Thanks for your comment Martin. Now I did try that before, changing some of the clothing of the Jeannie clone which first appeared. I still saw that I seemed not to have the permission to modify the body shape. Also, I did give a try to doing what you could do on SL, namely convert to the test male avatar, but that wasn't possible either. Still, I'll look into it more fully based on the information in the link you left. As for XorLabs, there actually are two places having that label. There is a bunch of land on the Green Goblin sim, which is the current location. My original location was on the Funb sim, and I later gave that to a friend. She never did change the name, so that would probably show up in a search as well. Currently I still have "group only" privileges on the Green Goblin site, but I need to change that, and will. Again, thanks for your comment.

Hello!

Nice blog. I'm just playing with Opensim as a casual user, but I noticed that you wondered how to change the avatar's appearance, so:

http://opensimulator.org/wiki/FAQ#Can_I_customize_my_avatar.3F

So you have to go to inventory, create new body parts and clothes, wear them and then you can edit appearance. The male appearance is an option in "body shape".

For the moment I'm sticking with standalone, but it's nice to know that one can run SL without Linden Labs.

BTW, I've found XorLabs as a group is SL, but there's no terrain to visit, right? (I mean, open to the public).

Yeah, that OpenSim.ini is becoming a real beasty no matter what the root cause turns out to be. That and the caching of values in the XML files after they are first read can really through people coming to this fresh. It seems breaking that config into parts would be wise, but the packaged configurator package likely doesn't support conf.d like setup, (which eventually OpenSim should do like every other major application with monster configuration). Someday that will become a greater priority. Maybe chewing on a new configuration layout would be small enough to swallow, unsexy, but needed.

I think I finally managed to clean out the wiki of all the old OpenSim.Framework.Data.MySQL.dll references. I had not realized that no one updated them after that code was changed 4 months ago.
